Things I'm Loving!

It's been my first week of my 7 week summer holiday break. It consisted of not really getting anything done, which is what the first week is all about.

Oh, did I mention that I'm going to Malaysia for 3 weeks today? This space may be a bit blank, but I shall try and update. Those of you who are Facebook friends, no need to worry!

This week I've been loving...

Skyping. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I absolutely love the people who invented it. In the last week I've had at least 2 hour long conversations with my nearest and dearest's Mum and Dad, Tara and Meg! I love how you can be so far away, yet still manage to talk for so long to someone! Defs true friends!

Musee Rodin in Paris - No editing! Whoop!
I've loved chilling out with Keith in the sun

I've loved crocheting up a storm, 22 squares down, 98 to go!

I've loved seeing choice wallpaper in a cafe's toilet.

And I've loved seeing a 'spiced up' version of Wenlock on Brink Lane.

Things I'm Loving!

The last few weeks I've been loving...

BBQ's
Not quite the kind of BBQ I'm used to, but I can't complain!

Friends
Going out for drinks with girlies from work!

Gifts
Necklaces that kids have made me

Leaving presents
I was luckily enough to be inundated with gifts from the kids at work during my last week. There was a weird great mix of gifts, including this great card.

Treats
Great treats from my birthland!

Photos
Trying to take a photo of a sign out the window of a bus, but instead capturing a great shot like this one!

Great finds
Finding Vogels bread in Budgens!

Keith
Enjoying the morning sun with Keith!

Parks
Going to Hampstead Heath and drinking a G & T at the top of the hill

Kids say the darndest things

Whilst dancing to 'Thriller'...

"Nikki, Michael Jackson is Muslim ay?"

Sorry lovey, but he's not and he's actually dead.
*edit - apparently he actually is, I'm not sure how legit it is though.. proof*

After deciding to go and play out in the puddles...

Me - "Lets go and get the gum boots and jump in the puddles!"

Child 1 - "What are gum boots?"

Child 2 - "Yeah, what are they?"

Child 1 - "Oh I know, it's when you eat lots of chewing gum and stick it to a pair of boots!"

Ah bless, the thought process of young minds.

We'd been singing our days of the week song for a few months, when I stopped singing to listen to the kids and this is what I heard...

It should be - "There are 7 days, there are 7 days, there are 7 days in the week..."

When in fact I heard - "Zero 7 days, zero 7 days, zero 7 days in the week..."

I can only blame my Kiwi accent and the pronunciation of 'are' (ahhh or arrrr)

Finally, when we were learning about New Zealand, the New Zealand flag was spotted in an Atlas...

Child - "Nikki, look! It's Museum's flag! Look I found it!"

Museum = New Zealand???

After promptly attempting some decoding, I came to the realisation that there was a slight misunderstanding.

Oh the joys of working in an environment where the kids aren't the only foreign ones!

Happiness

It's a lot of different things, for a lot of different people.

It's those little things that put a smile on your dial.

Like a really fat squirrel

The light in a sun set

Standing on top of a massive snow ball

Putting vegetables on your head

Receiving a card from someone very special and close to your heart

Being in London and capturing awesome things like this replica of the Stone Henge made out of cars

Being in Paris with one of your best friends

Holding a rabbit, and wearing festive pjs, and being in France.

But right now, right now in my life, this very minute, I'm happy. I'm happy because of the all the hard work I've done in the last year, has really paid off. There really is nothing like a parent saying to you "Thank you so much for your efforts. The progress my child has made has been more than I could hope for" or "My child talks about you all the time at home. They're sad when it's the weekend because they don't get to see you" or "You have really made a difference in our child's life that will last forever".

And with that, I shall leave you with a final picture. One of my all time favourites.

All photos were taken by me, therefore I own them, therefore please don't knick them. Thanks.

Things I'm Loving!

This week I'm loving...

New Zealand
I've loved being able to teach my kids about where I'm from, teaching them a few Maori phrases, and dressing them up in little Maori outfits made of paper for our school carnival where we paraded around chanting Kia Ora and Morena! (I'm also loving that my class won the soccer tournament and the sports day!)

Netball
I had loads of fun playing in a netball tournament on Saturday. I managed to pull my butt muscle in the 1st game, hurt my already bung hip when my leg didn't bend and buckled instead in the 2nd game, and hurt my already bung back in the 3rd - which I was in agony! Nevertheless, I played the 6 games of netball with our team, made some new friends, and our team came 6th! And we got some super choice and delicious treats in our grab bag!

Bike rides
I love cycling along Regents Canal. It's so beautiful and such a peaceful ride. I especially love seeing these two swans just chilling out.

Orchids
I bought 3 orchid plants for £10 from Columbia Rd Flower Market last weekend. They're beautiful and really brighten up my room!

Patterns
I love the pattern on my new maxi skirt. It's not my usual colour pallet, I generally go for something a bit brighter, but it's long and flowy and makes me feel like a hippy.

Pianos
Last year I came across this amazing piano just sitting on The Thames. Last week I came across another piano. I like last years one better, but it was still awesome to see another one! And I realised it's for the celebrate London month!

Signs
I go to Whitechapel station nearly every day. I have never seen/looked at this sign before, but when I did yesterday, I noticed this spelling error! You can hardly see it, but they have spelt Whitechapel Rd wrong! Bummer!
